On Tuesday, the deputy speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives welcomed a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors (NIS), led by its President Surveyor Dr. Matthew Ibitoye, in Abuja.

The meeting, on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas Ph.D, was received by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

The discussions focused on the significant contributions of the institute to the economic development of Nigeria, as well as the challenges they currently face.

The Nigerian Institute of Surveyors has been a key player in the advancement of land administration and resolution of land disputes in the country.

Their expertise and efforts have been vital in the development of our nation's infrastructure and economy.

It is no surprise that the House of Representatives, through its Deputy Speaker, commended their work and encouraged them to continue their efforts.

Rt. Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu specifically highlighted the need for the NIS to develop a strategic land mapping framework.

This framework would not only aid in addressing national security issues but also contribute to the overall development of the country.

The role of land mapping cannot be overstated, as it provides crucial information for decision-making processes in various sectors, such as agriculture, urban planning, and infrastructure development.

The House of Representatives, through the Deputy Speaker, also expressed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors.

This support will come in the form of legislative interventions and collaboration to help bolster their efforts.

The government recognizes the crucial role of the NIS and its impact on the economic growth of the nation.

Therefore, it is imperative for the government and the institute to work together to overcome the challenges they face and continue to make significant contributions to the country's development.

The meeting between the Nigerian House of Representatives and the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors was a productive and significant one.

It showcased the mutual respect and commitment between the government and the NIS in achieving a common goal – the economic development of Nigeria.

The Deputy Speaker's words of encouragement and support serve as a testament to the institute's importance and the House of Representatives' dedication to their cause.

With continued collaboration and support, the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors will undoubtedly continue to make a positive impact on our nation's growth and development
