The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, received Directors of the Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies (IPSDC) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, led by their Co-Chairman, Chief Chikwe Udensi, on a courtesy visit to his office.

The meeting was primarily focused on discussing strategies for revitalizing the South East Region, with a special emphasis on the collaboration between the Institute and the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P).

The Deputy Speaker, who is a strong advocate for the development of the South East region, commended the Directors for their commitment and interest in collaborating with the PISE-P.

He acknowledged their role as key stakeholders in achieving the common goal of rebuilding and revitalizing the South East region.

During the meeting, Rt hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu emphasized the need for collaboration and collective efforts in achieving the desired development for the South East. He stated, "As we collectively strive towards the common goal of rebuilding our region, I am confident that the proposed South East Development Bill, once transmitted and assented to by the President, will be a catalyst in realizing our longstanding aspirations for stability, peace, and prosperity not just across the Southeast but the entire nation."

The proposed South East Development Bill, which was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker, aims to address issues of marginalization and underdevelopment in the South East region.

The bill seeks to establish a commission that will focus on the development of infrastructure and socio-economic activities in the region.

It is a significant step towards achieving sustainable development in the region and promoting peace and stability.

The Directors of IPSDC expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Speaker for his support and commitment to ensuring the progress of the South East.

Chief Chikwe Udensi, the Co-Chairman of IPSDC, stated, "We are grateful for your support and dedication in promoting peace and stability in the South East.

We are confident that with your leadership, the region will experience significant development and growth."

The courtesy visit to the Deputy Speaker's office further strengthens the partnership between the Institute for Peace, Security and Development Studies and the Peace in South East Project.

Both organizations share a common goal of promoting peace and development in the region, and this collaboration will undoubtedly yield positive results for the South East.

Let me conclude by saying that the meeting between the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, and the Directors of IPSDC is a reflection of the commitment and dedication of key stakeholders in the development of the South East region.

It sends a strong message that collaboration and collective efforts are crucial in achieving sustainable development and promoting peace and stability.

With the support of leaders like Rt hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the South East region is on track to experience significant progress and growth.

Recognizing the urgency of addressing these conflicts, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, recently addressed a 2-day national engagement focused on "Mapping Actors to Reduce Identity Conflict".  The event, organized by the International Republican Institutions (IRI) and Na

It is the leadership that sets the tone, direction, and culture of the group.  In the case of the House of Representatives, the Speaker, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, have been commended for their all-inclusive administrative style that has kept the House stable. Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, has lauded the leadership style of Abbas and Kalu, noting that their approach to governance has been pivotal in fostering a sense of inclusivity within the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.  This inclusivity is crucial in ensuring that all members feel valued and heard, regardless of their party affiliation. One of the key aspects of Abbas and Kalu's leadershi
