On Tuesday, the Nigerian House of Representatives made a decisive move in addressing the issue of the skyrocketing price of cement in the country.

The deputy speaker of the house of representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, took a significant step in addressing the issue of the arbitrary increase in the price of cement by declaring open an investigative hearing at the National Assembly complex.

This move reflects the House of Representatives' commitment to serving the interests of the Nigerian people and ensuring transparency in the cement industry.

The decision to hold this investigative hearing stems from the House's recognition of the impact that the rising cost of cement has on the economy and the livelihoods of Nigerians.

As a vital component in the construction industry, cement plays a crucial role in infrastructure development and housing construction. Therefore, any unjustified increase in its price can have far-reaching consequences for the country's growth and development.

During the hearing, key stakeholders in the cement industry, particularly manufacturers, will be called upon to provide insights into the factors contributing to the price hike.

This collaborative approach aims to shed light on the current state of the industry and identify potential solutions to address the challenges faced by both producers and consumers.

The House of Representatives is committed to enacting legislation that supports industrialization and promotes the growth of small and medium enterprises.

By engaging with industry players and seeking their input, lawmakers can better understand the complexities of the cement market and develop policies that foster a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

As the investigative hearing unfolds, it is essential for all parties involved to approach the discussions with an open mind and a willingness to find common ground.

By working together, stakeholders can explore innovative strategies to stabilize the price of cement and ensure its availability to all segments of society.

The investigative hearing on the arbitrary increase in the price of cement at the National Assembly complex represents a significant step towards addressing a pressing issue that affects the lives of Nigerians.

Through transparent engagement and collaboration with industry stakeholders, the House of Representatives aims to find sustainable solutions that benefit both producers and consumers.

This proactive approach underscores the commitment of lawmakers to promoting economic growth and development in Nigeria.

Benjamin Kalu, recently made a statement asserting that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for Nigeria's current economic hardships.  This declaration was made during a charitable event organized by Rt hon Benjamin Kalu to celebrate his 53rd birthday, where he hosted orphans, widows, people living with disabilities, and the elderly at his country home in Bende, Abia State. In his interaction with the press at the event, Kalu emphasized that the economic challenges facing Nigeria today are a result of the mismanagement and errors of past administrations.  He commended President Tinubu for his efforts in addressing these issues and working towards a sustainable solution. Rt hon Benjamin Kalu urged Nigerians to exercise patience and support

The beneficiaries of the free medical treatment were individuals who have been struggling with eye sight problems. Many of them had been living with limited or no vision, hindering their ability to work, study, and fully engage in daily activities.  However, thanks to the efforts of Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu and the Ben Kalu Foundation, their lives have been transformed. With a heart full of compassion and a desire to make a real impact, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu spent his special day with individuals who are often forgotten and pushed to the sidelines - the handicapped, the physically challenged, students from the School of the Blind, inmates of the Motherless Babies Home, pensioniers and widows from Abia State.
