On Saturday, April 27th, 2024, a joyous occasion was celebrated in the northern region of Nigeria as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, paid a visit to Kano State.

The purpose of this visit was to congratulate the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Dr. Nasir Ado Bayero, on the marriage of their children.

The deputy speaker was accompanied by some esteemed colleagues from the House of Representatives as well as members of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P) team.

The visit of the deputy speaker to Kano State is a significant event that showcases the spirit of unity in diversity that is deeply embedded in the Nigerian culture.

It is a true testament to the strength of our nation and the harmonious coexistence of its people. The deputy speaker and his team were elated to reciprocate the kind gesture of the Emirs who graced the homecoming and unveiling of PISE-P on the 29th of December in Bende.

During his visit, the deputy speaker also took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing Constitutional Review with the Royal fathers. He assured them that their valuable inputs and insights will be sought in this important process.

This gesture further highlights the importance of traditional rulers in the nation's development and governance.

In his message, the deputy speaker emphasized the significance of upholding national cohesion and unity for the progress and prosperity of our great nation, Nigeria.
