Today, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, had the honor of delivering the opening address at the National Dialogue on State Policing, with the theme "Pathways to Peace: Reimagining Policing in Nigeria."
This important event was convened by The People's House under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Ph.D., in Abuja.
The focus of this dialogue is to explore and discuss the most effective strategies for establishing a more efficient and effective policing system in Nigeria.
It aligns with the 10th Assembly's agenda to prioritize peace and security in the nation. Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, who sponsored the Constitution Alteration Bill on State Policing, is dedicated to providing the necessary frameworks, legislation, and oversight to make state policing a success in Nigeria.
During his address, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, his colleagues in the Senate led by Senate President Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Former Head of State Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and other distinguished leaders and stakeholders who attended the event.
Their presence underscores the importance of reimagining policing in Nigeria and working together to create a more secure and peaceful future for the nation.
Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu believes that through collaboration and dialogue, Nigeria can transform its policing system and pave the way for a safer and more peaceful society.
The National Dialogue on State Policing is a crucial step towards achieving this goal, and with the support of all stakeholders, we can build a better future for our beloved country, Nigeria.
