2023 Igbo group to raise =N= 500 billion presidential election

 An Igbo group; World Igbo People’s Assembly (WIPAS), has declared its intention to raise the sum of five hundred billion naira towards the achievement of the 2023 Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction project. Spokesman of the group Chief Emeka Nwachukwu in a release said that it was long overdue for the Igbos to produce a president of Nigeria. Nwachukwu who stated that the project is cost intensive, however, expressed hope that Ndigbo and Nigerians of good conscience all over the world would contribute to fund the project as they begin consultation of Igbo leaders and Nigerians across the world. He told Nigerians to put their searchlight on Igbo land and look for candidates that will salvage Nigeria who are in quantum. The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has placed one year suspension on the 12 Igwes who went on an ill-advised trip to Abuja without consultation or approval from the Government of Anambra State. Announcing the suspension in a circular titled “Suspension of Twelve (12) Traditional Rulers in Anambra State,” and dated Tuesday August 11, 2020, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Greg Obi listed the affected traditional rulers as follows -  1. A renowned Non-governmental Organization in Nigeria, Mercy Uwakwe Foundation in collaboration with Mercy Wave Conglomerate have on the 17th of July 2020 commenced the 3rd phase of its palliative program tagged "3rd Mercy Wave Palliative Outreach". The outreach commenced at Bende Local Government Council Headquarters in Bende Local Government Area of Abia state. Despite the outbreak of covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent shutting down of schools in Nigeria and across the world, some patriotic individuals still strive to improve our educational sector and investing in providing infrastructure and building higher standard schools for our teaming youths, kids and toddlers. As was witnessed in Abia State on Friday 31st July 2020 when an ultra modern School complex was officially declared open, pending the resumption of schools as directed by the state and federal government respectively. Higher Ground international School is located along Umuahia - Uzuakoli high way. The school complex comprises of a nursery, primary and secondary schools. It has a well equipped laboratory, library and higher standard infrastructure. The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the state. A Nigerian, Mr Gabe Okoye, is on the ballot in a forthcoming Democratic Party’s senatorial primary runoff election in the U.S. Okoye, who hails from Enugwu-Aguleri, in Anambra, is seeking the main opposition party’s ticket for the Nov. 3 general election into the Georgia State Senate to represent District 9. Okoye, who is a chieftain of the party in the state, faces a black female challenger, Nikki Merritt, in the second round scheduled for Aug. 11. They both advanced to the runoff stage after defeating a third aspirant, Cheryle Moses, in the first round of the primary held on June 9. The winner will face the incumbent, Sen. Peter Martin, a Republican, who has been representing the district since 2015 and is seeking a fourth term. African midfielder Frank Onyeka was voted Danish club FC Midtylland’s Player of the Year after an outstanding season for the newly crowned league champions, Completesports.com reports. Midtylland disclosed this after posting a picture of Onyeka on their verified Twitter handle receiving his award at the weekend. The 22-year-old scored four goals made two assists in 35 appearances in all competitions for Midtylland in the just concluded season. His impressive performance helped the club clinch their third league title which they last won in 2018. It was Onyeka’s second trophy with the club since he joined them in 2018 after winning the Danish Cup in the 2018/2019 campaign. He joined Midtylland from Nigerian club side FC Ebiede.
