Ultra modern school complex opens in Abia (Photos)


Despite the outbreak of covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent shutting down of schools in Nigeria and across the world, some patriotic individuals still strive to improve our educational sector and investing in providing infrastructure and building higher standard schools for our teaming youths, kids and toddlers.


As was witnessed in Abia State on Friday 31st July 2020 when an ultra modern School complex was officially declared open, pending the resumption of schools as directed by the state and federal government respectively.

Higher Ground international School is located along Umuahia - Uzuakoli high way. The school complex comprises of a nursery, primary and secondary schools. It has a well equipped laboratory, library and higher standard infrastructure.

The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the state. The proprietor Mr Chibuisi Ohia Michael presented his first annual public lecture series titled "TAKING PRIDE IN QUALITY EDUCATION"

The event was chaired by Chief Ikenna Ariwodo (Omeru Oha 1 Of Uzuakoli) represented by Barr. Prince Chigozie Okechukwu.

The Deputy Governor of Abia State Rt. Hon. Sir. Ude Oko Chukwu also graced the event along side The Abia State Commissioner for Tourism. Also in attendance was the member representing Bende Federal Constituency in the National Assembly Hon. Benjamin Kalu, member representing Aba North/South in the National Assembly Hon. Ossy Prestige and Prof Victor Osuagwu.



Other dignitaries at the event include member representing Bende South constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi (Ijiriji Bende), S.A to Abia State Governor on Trade and investment Hon. Chima Kanu (Ngbo Bende), Former Commissioner for lands and conflict resolution Hon Mascot Imo Obike and Ndi Eze Uzuakoli.

Also at the event were the T.C chairman of Bende L.G.A Dr Haggler Okorie and his Deputy Mr John Mark, captains of industry, the clergy and a host of others.

The event commenced with a concelebrated mass of thanksgiving by the Bishop of Umuahia Catholic diocese - His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. L.I Ugorji, followed by blessing of the school and finally with public lectures by Prof. Ijeoma iheukwumere and Rev. Sr. Dr. Cor Jesu Maria Eke.

Some highlights of the occasion was the naming of some of the buildings within the school after distinguished Patriots in appreciation of their various contributions to the growth and development of our community, especially in education.

The school's graduation hall was named Odu Agu Ozu auditorium in appreciation to Barr. Mrs. Georgina Ehuriah MON (Odu Agu 1 of Uzuakoli).

The school's ICT center was named after Chief Ikenna Ariwodo (Omeru Oha 1 of Uzuakoli) and the laboratory named after Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi (Ijiriri Bende).


The school has a conducive learning environment with adequate security worthy of emulation by other would be investors in the educational sector.
