The establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) by President Bola Tinubu has been met with praise from Igbo youths, who see it as a positive step towards the development of the South East region.

The youths have also commended Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for his efforts in passing the bill that led to the creation of the commission.

In a statement delivered by Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, the youths expressed their gratitude to President Tinubu for his commitment to the development of the South East region.

They emphasized the importance of effective management of the SEDC to ensure that it benefits Ndigbo and contributes to the overall development of the region.

The youths also called for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), stating that his release would bring joy to  Ndigbo.

They highlighted the need for unity among Igbo political elites and criticized Dr. Josef Onoh for his disputed contribution of Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu in establishing the SEDC.

Igboayaka argued that Onoh's statement was unfair to Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu, considering the Deputy Speaker's efforts in sponsoring and passing the bill that led to the establishment of the SEDC.

He emphasized the significance of proposing and processing a bill to become an Act, stating that Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu deserved credit for his role in the process.

The youths urged President Tinubu to initiate more developmental programs and projects for the South East region and called for a political solution to the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

They emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among Igbo political leaders to ensure the progress and development of the South East region.

Let me conclude by saying that the establishment of the SEDC is a positive step towards the development of the South East region, and it is essential for all stakeholders to work together to ensure its success.

The youths' appreciation of President Tinubu and Deputy Speaker Kalu's efforts in this regard is a testament to their commitment to the development of the region.

This significant development was initiated by Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Bende Federal Constituency, Abia and the current Deputy Speaker of the house of reps.  On February 22, 2024, the Senate unanimously passed the bill, thus concurring with the earlier action taken by the House of Representatives. Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, a former Minority Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, has weighed in on this matter.  He has expressed his support for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who had earlier called on Governor Alex Otti to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).  According to Hon. Chukwu, RT hon Benjamin Kalu's position aligns with hon Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour's statement that the L
