The House of Representatives has once again taken a step towards fulfilling its promise of transparency and inclusivity as they kick-off the 2024 Legislative Open Week with the theme “Improving Inclusion Through Citizens Engagement”.

This week-long event, which commenced at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, aims to promote a more democratic legislative process that truly represents the needs and voices of the people.

As the 10th House of Representatives continues its legislative agenda, one of their primary goals is to ensure that the voices of citizens are heard and included in the decision-making process.

This commitment to public engagement was highlighted by the deputy speaker of the House, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, in his welcoming remarks.

Rt Hon Kalu also shed light on the impressive achievements of the House, including the introduction of over 1,000 bills, showcasing their dedication to legislative efficiency and effectiveness.

The theme for this year’s Legislative Open Week, “Improving Inclusion Through Citizens Engagement” perfectly captures the House’s focus on promoting a more inclusive and participatory democracy.

This event is a platform for citizens to actively engage with their representatives, share their concerns and contribute to the legislative process.

By involving citizens in decision-making, the House aims to bridge the gap between the government and its people, ultimately creating a more harmonious and responsive society.

The House of Representatives has consistently demonstrated its commitment to an open legislature and data-driven decision-making.

This approach ensures that their legislative actions are grounded in the evolving needs of the people and the nation, Nigeria.

Through this, the House seeks to create policies and laws that address the pressing issues faced by Nigerians and promote inclusive growth and development.

In today’s digital age, where transparency and accountability are paramount, the House of Representatives has embraced technology to enhance citizens' engagement.

With the use of various platforms such as social media and online town hall meetings, citizens can actively participate in the legislative process, even from the comfort of their homes.

This proactive approach towards citizens' engagement is a testament to the House’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and transparent democracy.

The 2024 Legislative Open Week is not just an event but a symbol of the House’s determination to deliver on its promises to the people.

By actively engaging with citizens, the House of Representatives is setting an example for other legislative bodies in the country.

It is a step towards building a more inclusive society, where every voice is heard and every citizen's needs are addressed.

As the 10th House of Representatives continues to uphold principles of transparency and inclusivity, the 2024 Legislative Open Week is another giant stride towards a more efficient and effective legislative process.

This event serves as a reminder that democracy thrives when citizens are actively involved in the decision-making process.

By bridging the gap between the government and its people, the House is fostering a more inclusive and united Nigeria.

Let me conclude by saying that the 2024 Legislative Open Week themed “Improving Inclusion Through Citizens Engagement” is a significant step towards a more transparent and participatory democracy.

The House of Representatives has shown its commitment to serving the people and creating policies that truly reflect their needs.

As citizens, let us take advantage of this opportunity to actively engage with our representatives and contribute to shaping the future of our nation.

The House is listening, and your voice matters.
