Earlier this week, the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu had the honor of hosting the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr.) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, in Abuja.

This meeting between these two esteemed leaders has brought forth a renewed sense of hope for national unity and peace.

The Emir, a highly revered monarch in the northern part of Nigeria, expressed his support for the Peace in South East Project PISE-P and sought collaboration for a similar initiative in the north.

This gesture by the Emir speaks volumes about his commitment to fostering unity and cooperation between different regions of the country.

During their meeting, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu, who has been a vocal advocate for peace and unity in Nigeria, emphasized the need for all Nigerians to come together and work towards a common goal – the prosperity and progress of our beloved nation.

He also expressed his appreciation for the Emir’s offer to partner on restoring relations between the north and south.

The deputy speaker stated, "We are at a critical point in our nation's history, and the need for unity has never been more pressing.

We are all brothers and sisters, and we must come together as one to overcome our challenges and build a better Nigeria for future generations."

His words serve as a powerful reminder that despite our regional differences, we are all united as Nigerians.

The Emir’s visit and his support for the Peace in South East Project is a commendable step towards bridging the gap between the north and south.

It shows that leaders from different regions can come together to find common ground and work towards a peaceful and united Nigeria.

This collaboration between the Emir and the deputy speaker is a shining example of what can be achieved through dialogue and understanding.

The Peace in South East Project, which was launched in 2023, aims to promote peace and reconciliation in the South East region and create a conducive environment for economic development.

The project has received widespread support and has had a positive impact on the communities it has reached.

With the Emir’s endorsement, it is clear that the project’s impact will extend beyond the South East and have a ripple effect on the entire nation.

The deputy speaker and the Emir have both reiterated their commitment to working together towards a peaceful and united Nigeria.

As the two leaders embark on this journey, it is our hope that their efforts will inspire other leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal – a prosperous and peaceful Nigeria.

Let me conclude by saying that, the visit of the Emir of Bauchi to Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu is a significant step towards strengthening national unity and promoting peace across the nation.

The partnership between the north and south will not only benefit the two regions but also the entire country.

As a nation, we must continue to embrace dialogue and collaboration to overcome our challenges and build a brighter future for all Nigerians.
