In a statement released by his special assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, Kalu highlighted the invaluable role that women play in advancing the progress of the country.
He emphasized that the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ aligns with the agenda of the 10th House of Representatives to improve women’s political representation.
As the Chairman of the House Committee on Constitution Review, Kalu expressed his commitment to addressing the issue of gender imbalance through the ongoing exercise.
While acknowledging the strides made by women worldwide, Kalu also pointed out the sobering statistic that only 25.5% of women hold seats in national parliaments globally.

Kalu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing several women to his cabinet, recognizing their hard work and dedication in various fields of endeavor.
He emphasized the importance of investing in women, not only as the right thing to do but as essential for a thriving and equitable society.
Kalu urged Nigeria to champion inclusive progress and explore innovative solutions, such as seat reservations, to bridge the gender gap.
On this International Women’s Day, Kalu called for a commitment to dismantling barriers and creating an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, can reach their full potential.
He emphasized that when women are inspired to be included, there is a sense of belonging, relevance, empowerment, and democracy thrives.
Kalu reiterated the importance of the House Constitution Review Committee’s work in repositioning women in the country and ensuring their full participation in all aspects of society.
In conclusion, Deputy Speaker Rep Benjamin Okezie Kalu’s recognition of the ingenuity and contributions of Nigerian women on International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts needed to achieve gender equality and empower women to reach their full potential.
