Aba, a bustling city in Abia state, has long been a hub of commerce and culture in Nigeria.  However, it lacks one crucial element for its growth and development - a federal university.  But thanks to the vision and determination of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Okezie Kalu C.O.N, this may soon become a reality. In a historic move, Rt Hon Kalu has sponsored a bill for the establishment of a federal university in Aba, aptly named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal University of Nigerian Languages Aba Establishment Bill, 2024.  The bill was presented on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 as it passed the first reading at the floor of the House of Representatives, marking a significant step towards meeting the educational needs of the people of Aba and its surrounding regions.
