As the quest to determine who flies the All progressive congress APC flag in the 2023 elections continues, the Abia State House of assembly primary election saw some major upsets, as those that were considered to be favorites, proved to be unpopular at the polls.

In the primary election conducted by inec officials in Uzuakoli which was held at practicing school Uzuakoli, the three aspirants had a gentle man's agreement and agreed to abide by the outcome of the primaries and also to support whoever emerges victorious in the primaries.

Few hours to the election, Hon Okechukwu Ezeala, one of the aspirants allegedly withdrew from the exercise and was not present at the venue of the election.

Those that contested the election includes Chief Owa CHINEDU from Umuhu Ezechi in Bende LGA and Hon Chibuzor Okogbuo a former house of assembly member from Amaohoro Nkpa, Umuimenyi in Bende LGA.

Chief Owa Chinedu won the election with 23 votes while Hon Chibuzor Okogbuo got only 5 votes. Hon Okechukwu Ezeala was left with zero votes.

While in Bende North state constituency, Hon Chijioke Chukwu won overwhelmingly with 30 votes while his closest rival Mr Mascot Emeka Ikwechegh got 3 votes. Another aspirant, Dr Chidiebere Nwokocha from Okoko Item also got 2 votes.

The elections were conducted by inec officials who confirmed to our correspondent that it was free and fair.
