President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's recent assent to three bills establishing new federal tertiary institutions in Southeast Nigeria marks a significant step towards improving access to quality education and fostering regional development. 

Sponsored by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, these bills will establish the Federal College of Education, Bende (Abia State), the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Item Bende (Abia State), and he also lobbied for bill establishing the Federal University Okigwe (Imo State). 

This move represents a commitment to investing in human capital development and addressing the educational needs of the region.

The establishment of a Federal College of Education in Bende holds immense potential for enhancing teacher training.
