 Urgent Resolution of Non-payment Issues Faced by NSIP Independent Monitors

Dear Honorable Dr Betta Edu 

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring your attention to a pressing matter of great concern, which demands immediate action – the non-payment of National social investment program (NSIP) independent monitors since January 2023. 

As conscientious citizen, we believe it is essential to highlight this issue and seek your urgent intervention to rectify the situation.

Firstly, we would like to express our commendation for the establishment of the NSIP program by the previous administration. It has undoubtedly made a significant impact by empowering Nigerian youths with the skills required to contribute to the socio-economic development of our great nation. 

With the introduction of the independent monitoring team, transparency and accountability have been further enhanced, ensuring effective utilization of resources and the delivery of quality services.

However, it has come to our  attention, through various media reports and personal experiences, that both NSIP  independent monitors have been enduring significant delays in receiving their rightful compensation since January 2023. 

This delay in payments has far-reaching implications, affecting not only the beneficiaries' economic stability but also their overall motivation and trust in the program, as well as the monitoring team.

These dedicated individuals, who have been working tirelessly to uplift their communities, deserve timely payment for their services rendered. 

The failure to do so undermines their faith in the program and may lead to a decline in its efficiency and effectiveness. We must acknowledge the hard work and dedication put forth by the independent monitoring team, especially given the challenging circumstances they encounter daily.

We also wish to raise concern about the adverse effects these non-payment issues have on the overall perception of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. 

The delayed payments could potentially damage the image of your ministry, as well as the credibility of the government's commitment to eradicating poverty and empowering Nigerian youths. 

Urgent action is essential to rectify this situation, restore trust, and ensure the NSIP program continues to make a positive impact.

Therefore, we implore your esteemed office to promptly investigate the reasons behind the non-payment delays and take immediate action to rectify the situation. It is crucial that these arrears are cleared without further delay, with a clear roadmap established to prevent future occurrences. 

Additionally, providing regular updates and clear communication to the N-Power  independent monitors regarding payment processes and timelines will go a long way in restoring their faith in the program.

We firmly believe in your commitment to public service and your determination to address challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians diligently. 

By resolving the issue of non-payment promptly and honestly, you will reaffirm your ministry's dedication to the effective implementation of social intervention programs, restoring public trust, and fostering an environment of transparency and accountability in public service delivery.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We are confident that, under your leadership, swift action will be taken to rectify the non-payment issues faced by  independent monitors. 

Together, we can ensure the continued success of the NSIP program, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of beneficiaries and communities across Nigeria.
