CELEBRATIONS GALORE IN ABIA APC AS HON DONATUS NWAMKPA SWEARS IN NEWLY ELECTED WARD CHAIRMEN

INAUGURATION OF BENDE APC WARD CHAIRMEN A FULFILLED SUCCESS WITH DIVINE DATE AND MANDATE.

The newly elected chairmen of the All Progressives Congress from the 13 federal wards of Bende this afternoon was sworn in at the state party secretariat in umuahia the State capital. Their election was conducted on the 31st of July 2021 during the peaceful Congress that was conducted by the party and supervised by Inec officials in the various wards.

Hon. Donatus Nwamkpa the All Progressives Congress chairman of the party in Abia State Inaugurated and sworn in the various ward party chairmen and their secretaries respectively from the 17 local government area of the State. The exercise witnessed a peaceful conduct as the State party chairman urge the ward chairmen to work assiduously for the party's victory come 2023. 

In his words " I want to categorically State that the Congress that produced  you all as the party ward chairmen from the 13 wards of  Bende  LGA and other part of Abia State is very authentic, this is time to deliver Abia and give her citizens a sense of belonging through your supports and unalloyed loyalty from your various wards".



Names of ward chairmen present during the inauguration ceremony are, Hon. Henry Chimbuo Chairman  Bende ward, Hon. Ukaegbu Chimuanya Onwubuiko chairman Igbere ward A, Hon. William John chairman Item A, Hon. Ihuoma Madukwe chairman Igbere ward B, Hon. Chukwu Chikezie chairman Umuhu Ezechi ward, Hon. Hon. Evans Udofia Itumbauzo ward chairman, Hon. James Dgreat Ugwueke ward chairman among other ward chairmen, their vice chairmen and ward secretaries. Speaking during the inauguration this afternoon, Hon. Henry Chimbuo the All Progressives Congress newly elected chairman in Bende ward said the Congress that produced all the chairmen of the party to the best of my knowledge as a seasoned politician is in order and accordance with the party's ideology and constitutional right. He advised other chairmen to make sure they carry their excos along for effective and efficient administration in their various wards.

NORTHERN GROUP SEEKS REFERENDUM FOR BIAFRA

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed November 1, to hear an application seeking an order of court directing the National Assembly to create a framework for a referendum in South- eastern  Nigeria, so that Igbos can vote on secession from the country. Plaintiffs in the suit are Kano-based Nastura Ashir Shariff, Balarabe Rufa’i, Abdul-Aziz Sulaiman and Aminu Adam while the first to fourth respondents are the Attorney General of the Federation, Senate President, Speaker, House of Representatives and the National Assembly. In their originating summons seen by our correspondent, the plaintiff, through their lawyer, S.G Idrees Esq, has asked the court to determine whether the constitution empowered NASS to call for a referendum. CANCEL STAGGERED ELECTIONS IN 2023 - KALU

Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to consider holding the 2023 general elections on the same day. He said this would reduce cost and rigging. Kalu said the presidential election, National Assembly, governorship and House of Assembly elections are better held simultaneously on the same day rather than holding them on different days. A statement he personally signed in Abuja reads: “INEC should conduct the 2023 elections same day as staggered elections are unnecessarily expensive. The conduct of the elections in different days gives room for rigging, thuggery and several vices. It also puts the lives of the voters and INEC officials in intense danger. “When elections are conducted on the same day, popular candidates will emerge because everyone will be busy in their polling units and zones, unlike on different days. NNAMDI KANU - LETS SETTLE OUT OF COURT - OHANAEZE.

Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari had been advised to seek an ‘out of court’ settlement in the case of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Apex-Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Sunday, called on South-Eastern Governors and Igbo leaders of repute to prevail on the President to seek an ‘Out-of-court’ settlement with Kanu in order to maintain peace. Kanu is set to appear in court on Monday for a continuation of his trial. It can be recalled that the embattled secessionist leader jumped bail and fled Nigeria in 2017 but was brought back to Nigeria earlier this month after being captured in Kenya.
