11 Igbo politicians nominated to take over from Buhari in 2023

A political association, Igbo for President Solidarity Group, has suggested 11 politicians from the South-Eastern states that are “qualified to be presented as presidential candidates in 2023 general elections”. The president of the association, Dr. Olukayode Oshiariyo, announced the names after the meeting of the congress in Abuja on Friday, observing that time had come for the country to produce a president from among the Igbo. “IPSC has come to the conclusion that in 2023, a man or woman of Igbo extraction will become the president of Nigeria. “IPSC will engage in consultations across the six geo-political zones, visitation to Emirs, Obas, Eze, Obi and chiefs, to discuss and examine the characters and integrity of the eleven persons suggested,’’ he said. Among persons suggested by the group are Dr Ogbonaya Onu, Peter Obi, Dr Chris Ngige, Rochas Okorocha, Dave Umahi, Orji Uzor Kalu, Ike Ekweremadu, and Enyinnaya Abaribe. Iyienu Mission Hospital and Health Care Foundation Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital since inception has been at the fore-front of missions, preaching and healings through tending the sick, the suffering and the dying. It will be recalled that the Rev. Henry Dobinson and Rev. F.N. Eden under the Church Missionary Society's (C.M.S) medical mission initiated what is today called "Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital" when they saw the need to reach the people with medical services on their arrival at Ozalla, Onitsha in 1890.  The Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital of today started as a dispensary in a somewhat dilapidated mud building in the old C.M.S. compound which was originally built by the first Bishop of the Niger Territory - the Rt. Rev Samuel Ajai Crowther - who also lived there. FG to move cargo by barges to Onitsha port.

Heads of maritime agencies in Nigeria have agreed to work on modalities for the movement of cargo by barges from Lagos ports to Onitsha, in Anambra state so as to ease traffic in Apapa. Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh, disclosed this at a recent meeting of all heads of maritime agencies in Lagos Jamoh said the meeting constituted a committee to produce a work plan for the 24-hour port system, and agreed to carry communities around the port environments along in order to ensure safe operations within the port vicinities and beyond. We also agreed to work with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on how movement of cargoes from the ports can be done by rail to reduce the pressure on our roads. “Our focus is also to ensure containers are moved by barges to dry ports outside the port environments. 2023 Igbo group to raise =N= 500 billion presidential election

 An Igbo group; World Igbo People’s Assembly (WIPAS), has declared its intention to raise the sum of five hundred billion naira towards the achievement of the 2023 Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction project. Spokesman of the group Chief Emeka Nwachukwu in a release said that it was long overdue for the Igbos to produce a president of Nigeria. Nwachukwu who stated that the project is cost intensive, however, expressed hope that Ndigbo and Nigerians of good conscience all over the world would contribute to fund the project as they begin consultation of Igbo leaders and Nigerians across the world. He told Nigerians to put their searchlight on Igbo land and look for candidates that will salvage Nigeria who are in quantum. The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has placed one year suspension on the 12 Igwes who went on an ill-advised trip to Abuja without consultation or approval from the Government of Anambra State. Announcing the suspension in a circular titled “Suspension of Twelve (12) Traditional Rulers in Anambra State,” and dated Tuesday August 11, 2020, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Greg Obi listed the affected traditional rulers as follows -  1. A renowned Non-governmental Organization in Nigeria, Mercy Uwakwe Foundation in collaboration with Mercy Wave Conglomerate have on the 17th of July 2020 commenced the 3rd phase of its palliative program tagged "3rd Mercy Wave Palliative Outreach". The outreach commenced at Bende Local Government Council Headquarters in Bende Local Government Area of Abia state. Despite the outbreak of covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent shutting down of schools in Nigeria and across the world, some patriotic individuals still strive to improve our educational sector and investing in providing infrastructure and building higher standard schools for our teaming youths, kids and toddlers. As was witnessed in Abia State on Friday 31st July 2020 when an ultra modern School complex was officially declared open, pending the resumption of schools as directed by the state and federal government respectively. Higher Ground international School is located along Umuahia - Uzuakoli high way. The school complex comprises of a nursery, primary and secondary schools. It has a well equipped laboratory, library and higher standard infrastructure. The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the state. A Nigerian, Mr Gabe Okoye, is on the ballot in a forthcoming Democratic Party’s senatorial primary runoff election in the U.S. Okoye, who hails from Enugwu-Aguleri, in Anambra, is seeking the main opposition party’s ticket for the Nov. 3 general election into the Georgia State Senate to represent District 9. Okoye, who is a chieftain of the party in the state, faces a black female challenger, Nikki Merritt, in the second round scheduled for Aug. 11. They both advanced to the runoff stage after defeating a third aspirant, Cheryle Moses, in the first round of the primary held on June 9. The winner will face the incumbent, Sen.
