On November 4, 2024, the skies over Bende Federal Constituency opened up, not with a downpour of rain, but with a cascade of projects set to transform the lives of its residents. 

The occasion was marked by the flag-off of multiple developmental initiatives led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the constituency's representative, RT Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu. 

Though he was unable to attend personally, his spirit was palpably felt through the presence of Hon. Emma Trumps Eke, the Federal Commissioner for the National Population Commission in Abia State, who ably represented him.

The atmosphere was electric as Hon. Eke and his entourage arrived in Uzuakoli, greeted by jubilant cheers and a palpable sense of anticipation. 

The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the Uzuakoli Urban Quarters road (Ihemba Rd), a vital link that had long been hindered by the ravages of erosion. 

Spanning 1.7 kilometers, this road connects the residential area of Uzuakoli Quarters and promises to restore accessibility that had been lost for years. 

In his address, Hon. Eke emphasized the significance of this project, stating, "This is one of the many projects in Uzuakoli."

He elaborated on the broader vision for the community, which includes the construction of a six-classroom block and offices at Uzuakoli Boys Secondary School, Ngwu, along with a one-kilometer road linking Uzuakoli Practice School Road to Uzuakoli/Ozuitem Road. 

These initiatives are not just infrastructural upgrades; they represent a commitment to improving the educational environment and enhancing the quality of life for the residents.

The promise of progress was further underscored by Hon. Eke’s assurance that the Uzuakoli Quarters Road construction would be completed before the festive season. 

This commitment not only reflects the urgency of the projects but also highlights a desire to bring joy and ease to the lives of the constituents during a time traditionally associated with celebration and togetherness.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the moment of cutting the tape symbolized not just the beginning of construction but also the dawning of new opportunities for the community. 

The unwavering joy of the people resonated through cheers and applause, a testament to their hopes for a brighter future. 

The day was not merely about the unveiling of roads and classrooms; it was about rekindling faith in governance and the promise of development.

In addition to the Uzuakoli projects, the flagging off of the Umuokwe Road in Umuhu on the same day further illustrated the commitment to holistic development across the constituency. 

Each project is a step towards revitalizing the infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and ultimately fostering a stronger sense of community.

As the rain of projects continues to fall across the 13 wards of Bende Federal Constituency, it is clear that the future holds the promise of growth and prosperity. 

The efforts of Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu and his team are paving the way for a more connected and thriving community, one project at a time.
