. ........ as security chiefs go into an emergency meeting 26/04/2021 A fres8has been carried out by gunmen on a security formation in Rivers State and five soldiers have been reported killed. The gunmen on Monday morning attacked the camp at Abua, in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, killing the officers. Although the six Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt is yet to release an official statement, two top security personnel in Rivers State confirmed the attack and killings to Channels Television. Meanwhile, all heads of security agencies in Rivers State are currently at a meeting at the headquarters of the Rivers State Police Command, ostensibly to re-strategise ahead of the new scale of insecurity in the state. This attack comes barely 24 hours after gunmen killed some police and customs officers at their patrol base in Isiokpo, the Headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government, which is along the Port Harcourt-Owerri road. UNKNOWN GUN MEN KILL EIGHT IN RIVERS

No fewer than eight security operatives are feared killed when gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra launched a night attack on two checkpoints along the Airport Road, Omahwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. This is coming barely a week after the state police command said it had beefed up security at border towns following threats of an attack by members of the proscribed IPOB in the state. The attacks, which took place about 11:30 pm on Saturday, were at the Joint Taskforce checkpoint in Omagwa and the Nigeria Customs Checkpoint at Isiokpo, also in Ikwerre LGA of the state. Sources in the area said the attacks were launched simultaneously on the two security locations. The source said, “Two burnt corpses were recovered at the JTF checkpoint. A police signal sighted by Daily Trust confirmed that the first attack was carried out at Zone 13 Headquarters Awka, while the second one happened at Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area of the State.
